ResourceName
GOES 10 Magnetic Field Sensor data at 5 min Time Resolution in Spacecraft Coordinates
AlternateName
GOES 10 Magnetic Field data
ReleaseDate
2019-10-11 16:15:00Z
Description
The magnetic field sensor, located at a few meters away from the spacecraft was designed to provide the orthogonal components of the magnetic field: Hp was parallel to the spin axis that was held nearly parallel to the rotation axis of the Earth, He was directed toward Earth center, and Hn pointed eastward. The magnetometer had a range of ±1000 nT (without saturation) and a resolution of 0.1 nT. After temperature correction, and before (undescribed) stray field correction, the accuracy is at about 1 nT level. Data files contain long descriptive header.

Description
Direct link to the GOES 10 Magnetic Field Monitor data in CSV format as well as the magnetometer data from other GOES spacecraft. The data are sorted by year, month, spacecraft, and file type. The file names indicates the data type, spacecraft number, year, month, and resolution. For example, g08_magneto_1m_19950201_1995_02_28.csv, indicates GOES 8 magnetometer data at 5 min time resolution from Feb 1, 1995 to Feb 28, 1995.

Description
Magnetic field vector for GOES 10 in spacecraft coordinates in units of nT. HP is parallel to the satellite spin axis, which is itself: perpendicular to the orbital plane of the spacecraft. HE lies parallel: to the satellite-earth center line and points earthward. HN is: perpendicular to both HP and HE, and points eastward for GOES 10.
